Enslaved は、1991 年 にIvar BjørnsonとGrutle Kjellsonによって結成されたノルウェーのエクストリーム メタルバンド。バンドのラインナップは何年にもわたって何度も変更され、Bjørnson と Kjellson だけが唯一の固定メンバー。
バンド名の由来は同国出身のブラックメタル・バンド「イモータル」の曲、Enslaved in Rotから名づけられた。
バンドの初期の音楽は伝統的なブラック メタルとバイキング メタルに根ざしていたが、バンドは 2001 年のモニュメンションと 2003 年のビロウ ザ ライツでこのサウンドから離れた。この時点で、彼らは、プログレッシブロック、ジャズ、およびその他の明確な影響の要素をサウンドに取り入れ始め、時間の経過とともにこの進歩を続けてきた。

その要素があるという表現のほうが適切。この作品も前作からの類似点があり、これには 過去からの要素と新しい要素が両方が加えられている。そして簡単なリスニングではないとはっきりと言える。この作品はかなりプログレッシブ色が強く、メタル音楽が好きな人がどうにか聞くことができる作品だと思う。特に過去からのファンはそう思うかもしれない。ゆえにメタルミュージックを好きでない人をメタルミュージックの世界に巻き込むことが可能といえる。サウンドは混沌とし何層もの音が重なり、クリーンボーカルとグロウルの対比が美しく、不協和音とキャッチーなメロディー、静と動のバランスが絶妙。私はそれに満足している。ただ好みが分かれると思う。。
それは簡単なリスニングではないとはっきりと言える。エンスラブドの目指す先は悪いものではないし、何度聴いても新しい発見がある。

Enslaved is a Norwegian extreme metal band formed in 1991 by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson. The band is currently based in Bergen. The band’s line-up has changed many times over the years, with Bjørnson and Kjellson being the only fixed members.
The band is named after the song Enslaved in Rot by Immortal, a black metal band from the same country.progressive.The band’s early music was rooted in traditional black metal and Viking metal, but the band moved away from this sound with Monumentation in 2001 and Below the Lights in 2003. At this point, they began to incorporate elements of progressive rock, jazz and other distinct influences into their sound and have continued this progression over time.

This is their 16th studio album and was released in March 2023.
No one listens to them any longer expecting to hear their early musical style. It is difficult to say that it is pure metal music, and it is more appropriate to describe it as having elements of that. There are similarities with this work from the previous album, which has both elements from the past and new elements added to it. And it can clearly be said that it is not easy listening. This work is quite progressive and can somehow be listened to by people who like metal music. Especially fans from the past might think so. Therefore, it is possible to involve people who don’t like metal music in the world of metal music. The sound is chaotic and multi-layered, with beautiful contrasts between clean vocals and growls, dissonant and catchy melodies, and a perfect balance between silence and movement. I’m satisfied with it. I think it’s just a matter of taste.
It is clearly not an easy listen. Enslaved’s destination is not a bad one, and there are new discoveries to be made on repeated listens.
