パワーメタルバンドでアイスランド出身、というと思い浮かぶことはないと思う。どちらかというと、ブラックメタルやデスメタルのイメージであって、彼らはこの点については珍しいと言える。
さて、どんなサウンドかというと、正統派パワーメタル、スピードメタルである。
大先輩たちにインスパイアされていると言える、きっちりとした完璧な仕上がり。
言ってしまうと、何か新しい事であるとか独特なものはない。
だが、今の彼らには必要はないように思われる。パワーメタルに期待されるものが全てそこにある。スローテンポの曲はなく、流行りのデスボーカルなどはなく、正々堂々勝負している。
ボーカルはエモーショナルで、力強く歌い上げ、しっかりハイトーンも出ており、ツインギターは見事に調和し、メロディーはキャッチーで、楽曲全て申し分ない。このアルバムを聴くとパワーメタルが好きで良かったと思う。

Power Paladin is an Icelandic power metal band founded in 2017.
From 2017 to 2020, they were active under the band name Paladin.

They changed their name to Power Paladin from 2020. The single was released in 2020.
This was their debut album released in January 2022.
Music style is power metal and melodic speed metal.
The lyrics are about fantastic world views and heroes.
You wouldn’t think of a power metal band from Iceland. Then you imagine black metal or death metal. They are unusual in that respect.
The sound is orthodox power metal and speed metal.
Inspired by the great power metal seniors, they’re doing it decently and perfectly.
After all, there is nothing new or unique.
But now they don’t need it. Everything you would expect from power metal is there. There are no slow tempo songs and no growls. They are brave.
The vocals are emotional, singing powerfully, with a solid high-pitched voice, the twin guitars are in perfect harmony, the melody is catchy, and all the songs are wonderful. When I listened to this album, I’m glad I liked power metal.
I have high expectations for them from Iceland!
